Isiah 50:4

The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that isweary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

Brooks Koepka begins the weekend of the 2019 PGA Championship with a mammoth seven stroke lead. Maybe not insurmountable, but he certainly has a head start to win his fourth major in less six full seasons on the PGA Tour. We all have times in our lives when we’d like a “head start” on the day to get out in front of the challenges with which we will be confronted. There is no better way to start each day than with a prayer of guidance and the reading of scripture. It is amazing that whether the scripture of your choice is an inspiring Psalm, an Old Testament story, or a miracle from Jesus, the reading will be immediately applicable to something in our lives. This happening is not ironic or coincidental. His word is new and fresh each day and He knows the season and the situation of each of our lives. There is great pleasure and profit in each of our studies of the scripture. When we take the time to begin each day with prayer and the delving into His word, we have more than a seven stroke lead on the field!
