John 20:27

Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

We mark our golf balls and sign scorecards for purposes of identification. Often times, playing partners have the same brand and number of ball. If the balls are hit to similar areas, it can difficult or often impossible to determine whose balls are which. It can come down to a player having to examine his or her for a mark where the ball in question has hit a tree or a cart path. By this distinction, one can possibly surmise the identity of the ball in question. This confusion is aggravating and unnecessary.

Thomas had such a difficult time identifying Jesus that he had to touch his hand and his side before he could fully believe. Even though Jesus is not with us in human form any longer, our Savior is not hard to identify. He is the truth and the light! Yes, it’s that simple. The manifestation of the Holy Spirit is the form in which we are guided and directed. Whatever the question, Jesus is the answer. If you don’t know the direction to take, Jesus is the answer. If you don’t know the why, the answer is because it will uplift and promote His kingdom.

Interestingly, Jesus is the truth even though His crucifixion was based upon a testimony of lies. He is the truth because he was the one true and perfect sacrifice. By way of this guiltless sacrifice and resurrection conquering the grace, He is the perfect Savior. No other sacrifice is sufficient to cleanse the sin stains of man. We should be able to identify Him by these scars because once we accept Him as Savior, we realize we were the guilty party. Before Christ, we lived that lie and gave a convicting testimony requiring an acceptance of Him as Savior.

God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are one in the same. There are no power struggles between the trinity and no conflicting signals. When He speaks, His identity is clear. He is the light because there is no mistaking the path onto which He wishes we trod. It’s the bright one. When you have a directional life issue, pray about it to the Father. Be warned, however, because He will answer. He is, after all, the light and the light eliminates the darkness of doubt and deceit. There is no doubt as to what caused the change in a person’s life following his or her acceptance of Jesus. The desires, directions and despair will have all changed and newfound hope and light is put into their place.
