Hebrews 10:32
But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
The heavily favored American team fell behind 4-1 after the first day of action at the Presidents Cup being held this week in Melbourne, Australian. Fortunately for them and the viewing audience, the Cup is not presented until after four days of play.
How many times have we each been down 4-1 in our lives? Our present position may not be reflected by the scoreboard lights, but by the trials, disappointments and afflictions of life. It’s tough out there but we serve a God who is able and willing to deliver just as He did when we first accepted His son as Lord and Savior.
Our current condition is not our conclusion. A current broken spiritual state is not the condition by which God intends to conclude our journey. If you are lost, God wants you to be saved. If you are backslidden, He desires you to return to fellowship. If you are broken-hearted and in need of mending, He is fully capable of healing whatever the ailment.
Our spiritual journey in this fleshly existence will always suffer affliction and torment because we are a prized position. It isn’t about a Cup which will be at stake in another two years. It is our soul and an eternity! We are given great assurance in Hebrews 10:35, “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.” Let us continually remember what a relationship with Jesus has brought us from, while we rejoice in where He is taking us! It’ll all be worth after all!
