Matthew 28:5
And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
64’s and 65’s are easier to come by on Thursday, Friday or maybe even on moving day Saturday than they are on a final round Sunday. An overnight leader has immense pressures. He has completed countless media interviews and has already considered the exemptions and life altering paycheck which result from a PGA Tour victory. Whether the early leader admits it or not, there is a fear of failure. Closing off a tournament is a learned skill requiring nerves of steel and calculated strategy with a certain amount of aggressiveness. Thankfully Jesus Christ, however, was the ultimate closer! Just as it had been foretold centuries before, our Savior arose on the third day following his crucifixion. The angels informed the women at the empty tomb not to fear because He has risen. Just as they had nothing to fear, we, who have placed our faith in a risen Savior, have no need to fear – no fear of failure, no fear of the damning power of sin, and no fear of the curses or condemnation of the law. The shed blood of Jesus cleanses and His righteousness justifies the believer from all sin. We who are under His blood should be the most confident people on Earth. We are not righteous because of anything we have done or could do within our own power. We are free because He is alive! Easter is such a special day of remembrance, recollection and rejoicing. We remembered Friday His persecution and His vile abjection to a cruel death on a wooden cross. Easter Sunday, however, is the celebration of His victory over the grave and death!
“The tomb where soldiers watched in vain
Was borrowed for three days
His body there would not remain
Our God has robbed the grave”
