Psalm 149:1
Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.
Max Homa won his first PGA Tour event yesterday at the Wells Fargo Championship. With it comes the large paycheck, allotment of FedEx Cup points, the two year playing exemption on Tour and a spot in all of the “major” tournaments. The added security of a win on Tour gives the victor a new song. When we accept Jesus as more than a “good man” and “prophet”, but as Christ and Savior of our lives, we are able to sing a new song. The new song is one of redemption, rejuvenation and salvation! We still have worries, but our eternity security is not one any longer. Our concern shifts to friends and family members who are unfamiliar with this new song. The song of salvation originates from the heart and testifies of the redeeming grace through the Lord Jesus Christ. Not even the angels in heaven are able to sing this song as they have not experienced this deliverance. In Colossians 3:16, this tune is a message to the world as we are directed to “let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.” The song of salvation testifies and glorifies our transformation from death into life. We have a glorious song to sing testifying and giving our appreciation for an eternal exemption through the blood!
