1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
The childhood’s of superstar athletes are fascinating. Their dedication at such an early age is unheard of to most of us. As a child, PGA Tour Professional Patrick Reed wore pants in the middle of summer like touring professionals when he played golf. Budding superstars spent every spare moment after school and summer breaks honing skills for their craft while the rest of us “lived a normal life.” The mega talented had a different kind of blood within them which created a unique desire to be the best.
The composition and inner workings of blood is fascinating as it circulates throughout our complex body system. Our bodies have natural defenses to effectively fight against most infections and rogue cells. For other exposures, the immunizations and vaccinations we received at an early age give us the amazing ability to ward off small pox, polio, and other devastating disease that plagued generations before their development.
Fundamentally speaking, these vaccinations introduce our body systems to these dead mutant cells and allow us to create a system to fight off the rogue infections. These immunities are stored within the body for a lifetime and stand at the ready to fight against these specific infections. Some “fighting” cells live only for mere hours to accomplish their purpose, while others live for our entire lifetime.
When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are vaccinated against sin infections. Our sins and transgressions will no longer have a lasting effect upon our soul. This immunization is spiritual and will become ultimately effective to our physical bodies at the time we are eternally redeemed. As sin and temptation attempt to infiltrate our bodies, the Holy Spirit leads us toward a “safe spiritual space” and the applied blood of Christ instantly cleanses our guilt.
Our blood is systematically amazing in what it naturally cures thanks to our wonderful and perfect design. Further, God has allowed mankind to develop active immunizations to further assist our bodies to effectively fight against new strains of infections. More amazing, however, is the power of Jesus Christ’s shed blood. As we face the unknown fears of the Covid-19 or Coronavirus, let us rejoice in knowing our God is in control and has already made eternal provision for those who accept His Son as both Lord and Savior! It was and still is “in the blood”!
