John 10:28
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Golf is a bipolar game. We can post a 70 one day and then shoot 82 the next with seemingly the same swings on the same course. Thankfully, our God is a God of eternity and is the same God today as He was yesterday, and as He will be tomorrow. He gives consistent constant salvation for those who have truly repented of their sins and have faith in Jesus Christ. Some days our faith will be at par and other days well above par, but his forgiveness is constant. So a believer can do whatever he or she wants after salvation and still claim this forgiveness? If the Holy Spirit is present within a person, he or she loses that desire to do the things once pleasing to the flesh. Our “want to’s” have eternally changed. We have a desire to follow and please our Heavenly Father both in our thoughts and our actions. We can and still do commit sin on a daily basis. We cannot lose our salvation and we still have forgiveness, but willful transactions will be chastised by the Holy Spirit. True repentance is a turning away of sinful desires because of Christ – not because of any possibly jail sentence, our spouse leaving us, or because of its health consequences. My daily prayer is to be thankful for eternal salvation while asking forgiveness from any transgression whether it be by commission or omission.
