Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Underdog Keith Mitchell won The Honda Classic fending off the likes of Brooks Koepka and Rickie Fowler on Sunday afternoon. Even the knowledgeable NBC lead announcer Dan Hicks referred to him as “Kevin” Mitchell as he was attempting to solidify his win. A local newspaper made reference to his anonymity with a “No Name Winner” headline. Even though many in the golf world replied with “who is that?” when asking who won last week, our God knows us by name and did so even before we were in our mother’s womb. How amazing is it that our God had us on his mind before we were ever conceived! Sadly, legislators are attempting to make third trimester abortions legal throughout our country. Even the most pro-choice advocates shutter when they are confronted with the realities and graphics of such procedures. If God knew us by name before conception, he definitely had a plan for us after conception as he did the prophet Jeremiah. My prayer today is for our state and federal legislators to be guided by scripture. I pray we begin to elect God-fearing politicians who not only pray when the cameras are on but also when alone. I pray for the parents who are considering ending their pregnancy. I pray they get their heart right first of all and secondarily, I pray they give the baby a name. It’s harder to forget something when it has a name!
